I write not only for sophisticates,
For intellectuals with learned mates.
On frontiers wild, and even in far Britain,
Troops quote my epigrams with lips frost-bitten.
But this regard fills not my money pouch however I keep proving I'm no slouch.
They say this is a new Augustan age,
But no Maecenases support my page.
